The neat thing about these poles is the fact that I never have to paint them. They are a wood pole coated in an outdoor proof plastic that looks new after every rain. This plastic also prevents the wood poles from rotting over time.
Jack is learning how to jump, and I think he enjoys it! He is a converted western horse that never saw a jump until he came here. He has picked up this English style quickly and with a little work on his form, I think he will make a good hunter. Now we just need his tail to fill in.
The biggest news around here is that Rio is now broke!! We are working on steering and breaks, but he likes the challenge and has been a dream to work with. The first time I got on him, he stood there with a confused look on his face before deciding that the gate was a better place to stand. After a little encouragement from me, we started to walk and trot around the ring. Before too long he relaxed and just took everything in. Now everyday he stands at the gate of his paddock when I am in the barn, rattling the gate or pawing at the metal water trough to get my attention. As if to tell me he is ready to work, or just to let me know he sees me. He is such a clown.
