Fall has officially arrived with a blast of color and wind! The trees around the farm had a quick change of color before shedding all of their leaves that I now have to rake up. But before I got an opportunity to rake them Hermes found two friends to play with in the great big pile in the backyard. The kids would pile up the leaves to jump in but before they got a chance to, Hermes would happily bounce all around and spread them all out! Silly Hermes, the kids want to jump in the leaves too. I think Hermes enjoyed having the kids around and thought that they were making the pile just for him.
WOW does it get windy. And it figures that it would be a beautiful day, sunshine and warm, and as soon as Carl and I try to take pictures for the website the wind kicks up. Several of the pictures of Xander would have been great except that his mane was standing straight up in the air thanks to a strong wind. Even Rio, who was spying in on the photo shoot, takes a moment in the wind.

With fall upon us I found myself teaching again. I have forgotten how much I enjoy sharing my knowledge about horses with others. With the help of Xander, Jack and even Tar I have started teaching on a regular basis. Now I can only hope that the weather allows me to continue for most of the winter.
Xander loves being groomed by riders more his size. He will stand for hours while the little riders carefully brush every inch of his now fuzzy coat. Xander seems to really like his face brushed. Meanwhile Jack struts his stuff for his lesson. Jack even got to show off his jumping skills with his rider.
